Delhi HC Intervenes: Wangchuk Allowed Shift to Medanta Amid Ongoing Protests

CJP agitation and Sonam Wangchuk’s medical condition.

Legal Victory: The Delhi High Court, led by Chief Justice D.K. Upadhyaya, has officially permitted climate activist Sonam Wangchuk to be transferred to Medanta Hospital. Medical reports indicated dropping potassium levels and rising uric acid, prompting a consensus among doctors for continuous monitoring.

Medical Handoff: The Central Government stated they have no objection to the transfer. Safdarjung Hospital has been directed to immediately share all medical reports with Medanta, where a dedicated panel of doctors will take over his care. Wangchuk is currently on the 24th day of his hunger strike.

CJP Issues Apology: Following the intense police action during the ‘Sansad Chalo’ march, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke issued a public apology to supporters. He specifically addressed the young women who were brutally beaten by male police officers, stating that the organization should have done more to protect them from the crackdown.

Government Response: Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda visited Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital to check on injured protesters, including a woman currently on a ventilator. Nadda assured CJP representatives that the government will hold internal talks regarding their demands, including the immediate resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
