CJP’s ‘Sansad Chalo’ March Turns Violent: Police Crackdown & Wangchuk’s Fast Continues

Bro, the Jantar Mantar situation just escalated massively. Yesterday’s “Sansad Chalo” march to Parliament turned into a total warzone. Thousands of protesters hit the streets, but Delhi Police shut it down hard with tear gas and lathi charges amid an internet blackout.

  • Brutal Crackdown: Protesters tried to march to Parliament but faced heavy police resistance. Over 118 cops were injured, 50+ protesters hospitalized, and 70 detained. Dipke explicitly apologized to CJP supporters who took the brutal beatings.
  • Govt Talks Failed: CJP leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das met Health Minister J.P. Nadda. They demanded Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation over the NEET paper leak, Wangchuk’s release, and ₹1 crore compensation for suicide victims. Nadda promised internal talks, but CJP called the meeting a “waste of time”.
  • Site Reclaimed: Police dismantled the Jantar Mantar stage, but Dipke and the CJP supporters pushed back, rebuilt it, and reclaimed the site by nightfall to continue the sit-in.
  • Wangchuk’s Strike: Still hospitalized at Safdarjung, Sonam Wangchuk extended his hunger strike (Day 23) in response to the police brutality against students. His wife, Gitanjali Angmo, was also reportedly pushed around by police during the chaos.
