A Historic Political Win: The CJP’s massive protests have officially ended after the government accepted their core demands. The 80% Surge: While the immediate paper leak issue was addressed, the underlying mental health crisis remains completely unresolved. According to NCRB data, student suicides in India have skyrocketed by about 80% over the last decade, jumping from 8,068 cases in 2014 to 14,488 in 2024.
The ‘Failure’ Factor: Academic pressure is a critical stressor. The data shows that “failure in examination” directly accounted for 21% (more than one-fifth) of all student suicides between 2014 and 2024. This translates to over 2,000 students dying every single year purely due to exam results.
The Financial Drain: The current educational framework is financially breaking families. Over 35% of secondary and higher secondary students now rely on private coaching centers to remain competitive. These private coaching expenses consume roughly one-third of a household’s entire education budget, adding massive financial distress to the crushing academic expectations.
