The scale of this protest was massive. Delhi Police completely underestimated the crowd for the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) march on Monday, July 20, 2026. Thousands of students actually broke through multiple barricades and reached the doorstep of Parliament.
- The Breach: Protesters easily brought down the barricades and marched down Raisina Marg, getting within 100 metres of the Parliament complex exactly as the Monsoon session started.
- System Overload: Despite dropping an internet shutdown and deploying around 3,000 security personnel, the police were completely taken aback and outnumbered by the thousands of youth. They had to use buses to physically block the roads.
- The Crackdown: The “leaderless” crowd faced little resistance initially, but police eventually deployed tear gas and baton charges to stop them.
- The Core Demand: The crowd was marching to demand the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged NEET exam irregularities.
