The situation following the CJP’s ‘Sansad Chalo’ march is intensifying. Delhi Police has officially registered four FIRs against unidentified individuals for rioting, assault on public servants, and damage to public property during Monday’s clash. One FIR specifically includes charges for flying an unauthorised drone over the New Delhi district during the active Parliament session. Reports confirm that over 118 police personnel and around 60 protesters were injured, alongside 15 to 20 government vehicles being vandalized.
Despite the crackdown, the movement at Jantar Mantar is seeing a massive scale-up in support:
- Crowdsourced Supplies: Hundreds of people from across India and abroad are showing solidarity by ordering food online directly to the protest site. Protesters are receiving constant deliveries of pizzas, burgers, momos, and thalis.
- Political Backing: Top opposition figures, including Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar, and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, visited the site on Tuesday to back the agitation over the alleged competitive exam irregularities.
- Wangchuk Relocated: Complying with a Delhi High Court order, activist Sonam Wangchuk was discharged from Safdarjung Hospital on Tuesday evening and shifted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram under tight security. He has been admitted to the ICU but continues his indefinite hunger strike.
